before the committees and long answers, they find more useful than short answers. i wanted to say that her answers were unsatisfactory and state many of the questions that were not answered and in hopes at leastt one of them i would get a satisfactory answer. i had to lay out our dissatisfaction with what she had said with not addressing the threats and the fact that a security group requesting to stay and felt they had to stay was with drown and on august 15t or 16th a report was sent out to the state department saying they could not with dispand the consulate could not with stand a sustained attack on the consulate and those questions were not worried and then on the talking points, in particular her answer to senator johnson saying no body cares.

panetta and the chairman of the joint chiefs who are saying that draconian measures will have to be ten. fur lows and lay off in the defense industry and most important to me devastating blow to national security if sequestitration takes place . frankly so far. i have not seen the kind of urgency that many of us feel about sequestitrationn . its implementation. >> this raises big concerns for those employees and what it said about our military right now. >> including our civilian employees of many major defense contractors who will be laid off summarly. >> and another story that i know you are particularly keen on, is that women are going to be allowed to be in combat situation. i know you support this. but many republicans are upset saying it as an opportunity for a social experiment and

this is not the time to further that genda- agend a. >> women are in combat begin the nature much war today. the kind of environment in afghanistan, for example where iad's . there is shell rockets and terrorist attacks by suicide bombers and others. but having said that. i believe that the important factor here is that women and men in order to qualify for certain role military have to meet mental and physical standarpeds . as long as that standard is adhered to, i am proud to have qualified women who are serving in combat situations and you know, some people i know think that generally speaking women are smarter than men anyway.

make life easier to them. it stopped sending the message that they are inferior. >> what about critics who say it is a misguided social experiment? >> i would say there is a lot of things throughout history we have taken steps for progress that are called misguided social experience and they were the right thing to do. i am not saying it is easy and should be implemented immediately but it is not as hard as people are saying. there is a question of putting the strong and the fit and the people who are combat ready in combat. we are not asking for less than that and not asking for guaranteed spot but the opportunity to compete. >> there are concerns women are more vulnerable to sexual assault if they are captured on the battlefield.

>> if they are captured on the battlefield and becoming a prisoner of war will experience horrific. men are rape in captivity and i received a significant amount of survival training and resistance and escape. we understand the risks and given tools as much as any human being can be. to try to deal with it it is difficult if you are a prisoner of war. women who make it through the training courses and have the opportunity to serve their country in a way they feel in their heart, they accept those risks and we have to continue to do the training and understand that it is difficult to see any american in that situation. >> sexual assaults are more of a problem in the military's own rankings. 6000 cases have been report last three years alone? >> sexual assault is a huge

problem. it is a huge problem and also a problem in the military . there are an increase in numbers, i haven't looked at all . studies. but some of the studies that i looked at and in my own experience there is an increase in number because there is emphasis on reporting. before it was not encouraged to report. you would face problems in your unit because you are treated like a taddle tale. it is encouraged to report. we have people in position specifically there to advise the victims and on top of that it might be a bigger problem in the military because they furthered the view of women as weaker and victims and that increases the culture of women as objects and inferior and that is more of what sexual assault is about. dominance and showing someone you are superior to them. we change the culture and address the behavior from a leadership and discipline perspective it will get
